Britannia Stockport Hotel Manchester Guest Reviews
I will try and give both the good and bad. I arrived and the gentleman at the counter was busy watching videos on a lap top that I presume a guest was sharing with him. Finally decided to help. Checked me in but offered no info on wifi or any other services and not even a wake up call. Came back down stairs and same guy was on a personal call in the office behind the counter and I had to stand and stare at him for almost ten minutes. I got the wifi info (which their wifi has a very weak signal) and I asked for my wake up call at 6 and about the free shuttle service to the airport. I was informed they had not shuttle but he could get a taxi in the morning and bill the hotel for it. Fair enough. Btw, I cam back down to to do this because no one answered at the front desk. So I went and ate in the restaurant in the hotel. Prices were not bad compared to my previous hotel but they had one person seating people, taking orders, getting drinks etc. For being understaffed in my opinion he did alright. Call me crazy but I ordered the lasagna. It came burnt around the edges but the coffee was the best I had since being in the UK. And though I do not know if the food was the cause, I was throwing up in the morning. Sorry if that is too graphic. The room: Small, even for the UK. The bed was a roller bed and tiny but I fit so no worries. My water glass was still dirty from I guess the last guess. Fixtures, flooring and so forth are indeed old but for the price, what do you expect. Down side though is the thin walls. I could hear every foot step from half way down the hall, every car passing on the street and even the elevator as it went up and down. This was my main complaint really. I got maybe one hour sleep but to be fair, I do not sleep well anyway. Finally got to sleep and wake up call came at 5AM. And hour before my requested time. So I thought I should check on my taxi to be sure considering. Spoke to a different gentleman and he was very helpful and nice. He said the previous employee put it in the old computer which never changed with the time change. He showed me the hand written log and the employee from last night also wrote it down wrong for the following day and so he wasn't sure which one to go by. So I am lucky I got any wake up call at all it seems. Minus the indifference and sheer laziness of the first counter clerk, most of the staff was professional and friendly. Though I did not use it, the work out center is also a facility you can subscribe to if you are local so it looked quite nice from what I saw. If you only need it for a night or maybe two and want to save a little money, then this may be the place for you. But I would not go here if you are seeking comfort or efficiency. You get what you pay for.

So bad in location, and price. The room was quite hot and heater was broken.

My first visit to this particular Britannia Hotel (on account of a trade event which was being held there). I was very satisfied with the quality and standard of the room, and would be pleased to stay there again.

the staff are pleasant and very helpfull my room unfortunatly was not clean. there was dust and large particles of paint flakes on the dressing table around the tea making facility/tv. but the rest of the room was ok the toilet roll was just left on the sink not on the holder petty things i know but basic mistakes the mattress on the bed was worn out.eg i could feel the bed base more than the mattress overall i would definatly recommend this hotel and i will stay again
